2014 CALL FOR AWARD SUBMITTALS

Now that our Statewide Conference is over and things are settling down a bit, it’s time to start thinking about submitting your projects and/or professional individuals for consideration of the 2014 Annual APWA Awards. Projects should be complete as of December 31, 2013 and the deadline for submissions is January 31, 2014.

The applications and forms to complete with instructions are now available on the APWA-Arizona Chapter website (Download Here). The awards that are available this year are:

1. Top 10 Public Works Leaders of the Year (National)
2. Public Works Project of the Year (National)
3. Public Works Project of the Year for Small Cities/Rural Communities (National)
4. Presidential Award for Chapter Excellence (PACE) (National)
5. Sustainability Practices Award (National)

Chapter Awards include:
• 2014 Award of Merit – Recognizes an employee of a Federal, State, County, or Municipal Agency involved in public works at the operational level that performs in an exceptionally efficient and/or innovative manner.
• 2014 Outstanding Public Works Employee Award – Recognizes an employee of a Federal, State, County or Municipal Agency involved in public works at the managerial level that performs in an exceptionally efficient and/or innovative manner.
• 2014 Public Works Project of the Year Award
• 2014 Public Works Project of the Year Award – Small Cities/Rural Communities
• 2014 Sustainability Practices Award – Recognizes individuals or agencies that have made outstanding contributions to promote sustainability in public works.


All submittals must be send as 1 electronic copy (CD or thumb drive) AND 6 hard copies sent to:

Ginger Lundy was recognized for her eight years of service as the Chapter Administrator. Ginger has accepted a position with the City of Peoria, Public Works Department.


Stuart Thomasson is a 2015 candidate for a Baccalaureate Degree in Civil Engineering from ASU. He was one of three scholarship winners and received his check for $1,500 at the Chapter Luncheon.
